A live performance is the quintessential rock 'n' roll experience. After spending countless hours absorbing our favorite tunes, we spend sometimes hundreds of dollars to be in the presence of our rock and metal heroes and hear the tracks straight from their creators. Unfortunately, things sometimes don't go as planned.

If you've ever experienced a power failure at a show, it's a serious friggin' bummer. It even happens to the biggest bands with the most experienced crews. In this Loud List, you'll see venues that just couldn't handle the power of Metallica, Iron Maiden, KISS and others.

However, technical difficulties can be pretty damn funny. For example, when Limp Bizkit vocalist Fred Durst attempted to get some crowd participation going at Woodstock 1999, his faulty mic made for completely dead responses for an uncomfortably long time. Jon Bon Jovi suffered a similar onstage hardship, as his mic cut out while his in-ear monitors seemed to keep working. We'll let you watch that one for yourselves.

Technical difficulties can even result in the most bad ass moments caught on tape. Take Pig Destroyer vocalist J.R. Hayes for example; after breaking his microphone, the grind screamer just kept on screaming, somehow still able to get his voice through the guitar and drums.
