A shooting at Sparks Middle School in Nevada has left two people dead and two more in critical condition.

Fox News is reporting that police starting receiving reports of the shooting at around 7:16 am this morning (10/21), and that the shooting took place outside of the school building, but still on campus.

Authorities have confirmed that the suspected shooter is "down" and the area is secure now. No word on the condition of the shooter.

A student told the Reno Gazette-Journal that the shooter was a Sparks Middle School Student, and shot a teacher after the teacher told him to put the gun down.

“The teacher fell and everybody ran away,” said student Kyle Nucum. “We ran across the field to get somewhere safe, and while we were running we heard about four or five more gunshots.”

Sparks is a city just east of Reno.
