Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' will face one of its first real tests tonight in picking up where 'Thor: The Dark World' left off with the Asgardian-centric "The Well," but fans aren't alone in thinking ABC's 'Avengers'-adjacent drama would do better to cross over with 2014's 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.' While we wait for tonight's latest episode, what do producers have to say of 'Agents' role in the next Marvel blockbuster?

Speaking with TVGuide, executive producer Jed Whedon kept light on details for the event, but offered that "Nick Fury [Samuel L. Jackson] is in that one, and S.H.I.E.L.D. makes an appearance, so we will definitely try to tee-up some stuff and probably play a little bit of the fallout from that film. We're hoping to do some cool stuff."

While Marvel's 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' would naturally lend itself more to a film wherein the bureaucratic Marvel organization served as an antagonist of sorts, many wonder how tonight's "The Well" would possibly pick up after 'Thor: The Dark World,' lacking the budget for any major Asgardian involvement. "After the fallout of the film, we're in charge of the clean-up. We spilled into more of the ancient aspects into Asgardians and how they visited us long ago, so we get into a little bit of that aspect of Asgard and how it's affected our planet in the past and currently."

So while "Dark Elves" themselves may not merit mention during the hour, nor perhaps any of the mystical aliens we've come to identify, it seems as if 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.' will focus more on bridging the gulf between the two factions, much as the most recent clip saw Skye attempting to grasp that Asgardians merely represent science beyond our reach.

What say you? Are you still looking forward to seeing more of 'Thor''s world explored through 'Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.?' Will the ABC series have a more direct tie-in to 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier?' Tell us how you'd like to see the team integrated into the films, after the clip below!
