We officially now live in a world where one machine can scan, design/render, and print any 3D design from the comfort of your own home. Technology rules!

Yesterday, the Nanyang Technological University in Singapore announced that they've come up with the all-in-one 3D printer. It will 3D scan whatever item you can fit in it, render on any operating system to smooth out the kinks, and finally hit button... bringing your designs to life in epic 3D awesomeness.

There's a catch right? Sort of... Much like most 'first generation' consumer goods, it's not at the capabilities commercial grade stuff is now, and likely won't be for a long time. The 3D camera mounted on board is only 5megapixels... so there's a lot of 'fixing' in the digital program you need to learn before printing out your ideas.

There is a pretty well defined size limit on what you can scan and print. It's small, but it can only get bigger as more manufactures try to keep up and push further trying to earn your dollars.

Also, it's like $2200+$150 shipping... It's not exactly affordable yet... but the idea has been proven to work. We can have an all-in-one 3D printer.

Who knows what kind of doors that can open. Five or ten years down the road, maybe the home 3D printer will be a standard of American living. We've already seen what this technology can really do, don't you remember when NASA literally emailed a wrench to the International Space Station? The future is awesome, and it is now. Bask in its glory.
