We all know World of Warcraft has always been about epic loot, but Blizzard has decided to reward the most loyal of Azerothians with this beautiful statue.

Think you were a dedicated member of the Horde throughout the time you played World of Warcraft? Despite being the most successful and profitable MMORPG of all time (and still boasting the highest number of paid/premium subscriptions), very few orcs and humans were around at World of Warcraft's launch on Nov. 23, 2004. There are players who have been actively playing since day one, and Blizzard recognizes their dedication. As a result, Blizzard is mailing a free orc statue to all players who have had continuous subscriptions since WoW's launch, MMO-Champion reports. That's right, Blizzard is giving a special statue to all of its World of Warcraft players who have stayed on Azeroth since the very beginning.

Here's what Blizzard had to say about the statue:

We've been secretly working on creating a one-time gift to celebrate the WoW Anniversary, and it's now on its way to players that have been with us since the beginning. Emails have been sent to North America and Oceanic players to their registered address, which will include shipment tracking info. Our players in Europe will receive a similar email, and their shipments are expected to begin in the next few weeks.

If you're an NA region player (US, Canada, Oceania, Latin America) the receipt of an email is confirmation that you met the criteria to receive an Anniversary celebration gift. Emails have not yet begun to be sent out to our European players, but we'll start sending them soon. Shipment of the gift to EU players will begin in the next few weeks.

Criteria required to receive the gift:

  • Started playing WoW within 60 days of the game launch in your region
  • A continuous subscription for all 10 years, from launch to the Anniversary

We're thankful for everyone that chooses to spend time in Azeroth with us, and hope that this small token of appreciation expresses our gratitude to those few of you that have achieved the incredible milestone of playing World of Warcraft for all these 10 years.

[Update] All notification emails have been sent to NA and EU region recipients.

Personally, I joined World of Warcraft in Sept. 2005, and still use my account. Unfortunately, the cutoff date for getting a statue was Jan. 24, 2005 and I've cancelled and reactivated my account a few times throughout the past decade (I blame my utter disdain for the Mists of Pandaria expansion), so I'm rather disheartened to not own this bronze orc, but I understand that there are those who have been far more dedicated than me. Nevertheless, this is an excellent free gift that Blizzard did not need to send; the free statue reflects how much Blizz cares about its fan base -- we thought the veterans were just going to get another mount or a toy version of [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker]. If you think you're eligible, get off of Warcraft and check the email associated with your Battle.net account.
