Yikes! Amazon UK Sees Giant Spike in Sales of Aluminum Bats, Clubs During London Riots

As the London enters another day of rioting, looters and bystanders have taken to the web to arm themselves. Amazon’s UK site has seen scary-high spikes in sales of blunt objects over the past 24 hours, including a 50,000% spike in clubs and a more than 35,000% spike among different aluminum baseball bat models.

NewsCorp executive Rebekah Brooks, forced to resign from her post after her division’s ‘News of the World’ phone hacking scandal, has been treated to internet fame thanks to readily-available streams of her testimonies in London’s parliament. And since Brooks resigned on a Friday (June 15), the trolls couldn’t help but give her the Rebecca Black treatment.

A clever YouTuber put together a parody of Black’s viral hit ‘Friday,’ with Brooks singing about her shattered reputation (“Friday, Friday / Gotta resign on Friday”). The song also includes jabs at NewsCorp and head honcho Rupert Murdoch.
