Every year East of Lawton, the rural community gathers to rally around their all-volunteer fire department. These are the fellows that suit up and show up when fires break out in county. There's no paycheck, just camaraderie and a drive to help your neighbors.

This year, for the 20th anniversary bash, they didn't pull any punches. Cooking up a smorgasbord of fried fish, calf fries, beans & slaw, plus all the trimmings you'd expect. Hundreds showed up, donated what they could, and participated in a fun afternoon of fun and fellowship.

Along with tons of food, there was a multitude of activities for all of the kids that showed up. Bounce houses, smoke houses, and quite possibly the biggest dunk tank SWOK has ever seen. Hurt's Donuts was on hand divvying up their sweet concoctions too for dessert.

To further encourage donations for needed equipment, they held a silent auction throughout the day, as well as an live auction full of donated goods, including the coolest set of oxygen tank lamps I've ever seen.

If you didn't get the chance to make it out, you might look for it on your calendar next year. It's a great community event.
