One of the worst kept secrets of South by Southwest has finally been confirmed as Dave Grohl will bring his Sound City Players to Austin for the South by Southwest music conference.

Grohl had already been confirmed as a keynote speaker at SXSW and the 'Sound City' film was already on the list of screenings for the film festival portion of the music week. In addition, some of the key 'Sound City Players' like John Fogerty, Stevie Nicks and Corey Taylor had already revealed plans to be in Austin for South by Southwest.

Citi Private Pass is sponsoring the Sound City Players performance at Stubb's in Austin on March 14, with veteran rockers the Meat Puppets set to open the evening's entertainment. Beginning today, Citi credit or debit card cardmembers can pre-order the 'Sound City' documentary Blu-Ray at citiprivatepass.com. With the purchase, cardmembers will also receive a complimentary ticket to the March 14 performance at the historic Stubb's venue.

The lineup for the Sound City Players at the Austin event includes the aforementioned Grohl, Taylor, Nicks and Fogerty, alongside Rick Springfield, Cheap Trick's Rick Nielsen, Fear's Lee Ving, Rage Against the Machine's Brad Wilk, Queens of the Stone Age's Alain Johannes, Masters of Reality's Chris Goss, Nirvana's Krist Novoselic, and Grohl's Foo Fighters band members and tour musicians Jessy Greene, Taylor Hawkins, Rami Jaffe, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear. Our reviews of the Los Angeles and New York shows can be seen here and here.

The 'Sound City: Real to Reel' documentary itself will be released on March 12. Meanwhile, the soundtrack, which also arrives March 12, is currently streaming ahead of its release.
