We couldn’t be more excited to present this episode of our signature series, ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ In this segment, Megadeth legend Dave Mustaine proves what’s true and false about what’s written about him on Wikipedia.

This episode was so good we needed to split it up into two halves. We’ll be releasing Part 2 on March 30, but there’s plenty covered in this first except of ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’

Dave Mustaine speaks about his childhood and reportedly being brought up as a Jehovah’s Witness. In fact, he was only raised as a witness for a number of years, splitting off into the dark arts later in his teens. Mustaine also revealed much about his first band, Panic, and the tragic circumstances which ended the group after only two shows. Dave describes the horrific ordeal in this video and offers insight on how he was able to move on as a musician.

The thrash frontman also shares some history from his time as Metallica’s lead guitarist. He confirms that he was invited to become a member of Metallica without even having to audition, while he disproves a tale where he gave bassist Ron McGovney a massive electric shock by pouring beer into his instrument.

The beginning of Dave’s longtime musical partnership with Megadeth bassist David Ellefson also gets put to the Wiki test. It turns out there were some discrepancies in Wikipedia’s telling of the duo’s beginnings, as corrected by Dave Mustaine himself.

Check out Part 1 of Dave Mustaine’s ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ segment above and stay tuned next week for Part 2!
