Guitar god Dave Navarro is a true patriot. To introduce the new season of his Spike television show Ink Master: Shop Wars, the axeman plugs in and shreds the National Anthem with the help of some real messy pals. While Navarro wields his axe, ink purveyors shoot paintball guns, spray graffiti, tip cans, and get into all sorts of mischief.

The show is coming back for a ninth season on June 6 and the stakes have been raised. The prize money has been doubled from previous seasons to $200,000. Nine tattoo shops from around the country will send their best artists to compete for the title of Ink Master, the cash prize and a feature in Inked magazine. The shops will send teams of two to be tested on their technical skills but will also call on the contestants to show their moves for some on-the-spot inking.

Each episode's ink challenges will be followed by harsh judgement from Navarro and his panel compromised of Chris Nuñez (“Miami Ink”) and Oliver Peck (Elm Street Tattoo).
