The rain may cause traffic nightmares for some SoCal residents, but it does have its benefits. For one, it means the start of a new DevilDriver record. Frontman Dez Fafara confirms in a new social media post that he has begun vocal tracking for the band's upcoming double album, but that he needed the right inspiration first.

"Tracking has fucking begun #HaunteDDstudios - Leave it all on the Table for The Heavy," says the singer with the added hashtags: #DoOrDie @devildriver @theoraclemgmt #metal #groovemetal #thecaliforniagroovemachine @steveevetts @napalmrecordsofficial @thomas.napalmrecords #FuckActiveRock #DieWithYourBootsOn #NoCompromise #NoPussingOut.

Fafara goes on to add, "I WOULD NOT ALLOW TRACKING TO START UNTIL IT WAS RAINING OUTSIDE - now in a full rain monsoon we start - WEEK OF RAIN GONNA HAVE SO MUCH ENERGY ON THESE TRACKS BRING THE THUNDER THE LIGHTENING AND THE RAIN BRING THE ENERGY OF THE SKY DOWN UPON THIS ROOFTOP!"

What say you, DevilDriver fans? Does the arrival of the skies opening and doom and gloom on one of the sunniest places in the U.S. excite you, especially knowing that it's making its mark on DevilDriver's music?

After getting rain this weekend and a downpour on Monday, rain remains in the forecast through Thursday with clouds forecast all the way through Sunday, so it should be an outstanding week for Dez and his DevilDriver crew.

No official release date has been announced for the double album, but the early start in the year offers promise for another highly anticipated 2019 offering.
