Tonight (Aug. 12) at the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony, Ed Sheeran proved that you don’t have to be dressed to impress in order to bring down the house when he performed a stunning rendition of Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here’ while wearing a hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Alongside Sheeran were Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, Mike Rutherford of Genesis and Richard Jones from the Feeling. The segment also featured a trapeze artist high above the musical performance. The eclectic collection of musicians certainly did justice to the title track off of Pink Floyd’s critically acclaimed album from 1975.

The rising British star has collaborated with bands and artists from several different genres in the recent past, including Taylor Swift and Snow Patrol. His music was also featured in a commercial for Victoria’s Secret in the spring. And he is not opposed to sharing tidbits of his personal life with the public, which he proved by broadcasting his new goat tattoo a few months back.

Regarding Sheeran’s upcoming tour plans, the singer is scheduled to play a handful of music festivals throughout the U.K., the Netherlands, Germany, France, Luxembourg and Ireland in August, and he will then go on to headline the VH1 You Oughta Know Festival in the fall.
