'Elysium' is Neill Blomkamp's follow-up to 'District 9,' and is probably our most-anticipated film for the rest of the summer. The film stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley, and the latest trailer shows off how amazing it looks.

It also lays out the story fairly cleanly: Earth has been left to the poor, while the space station Elysium is the home for all the one percenters who live in tranquility and face no health risks. Damon is a regular guy who is accidentally poisoned, and with five days left to live, he makes a last ditch effort to get to Elysium where he thinks he can be cured.

Though this offers much of the same footage as the previous trailer, who cares? We can't wait to see Damon in his mech suit getting into fights, and this promises some great action set pieces. But it also looks like it has something to say, and -- as 'District 9' was a best picture contender -- with this cast and crew, it's possible this could be the first summer blockbuster in a long time that could be a real Oscar contender. Here's the film's synopsis. 'Elysium' opens August 9.

In the year 2154, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined planet.  The people of Earth are desperate to escape the crime and poverty that is now rampant throughout the land.  The only man with the chance to bring equality to these worlds is Max (Matt Damon), an ordinary guy in desperate need to get to Elysium.  With his life hanging in the balance, he reluctantly takes on a dangerous mission – one that pits him against Elysium’s Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) and her hard-line forces – but if he succeeds, he could save not only his own life, but millions of people on Earth as well.
