Event Information

The 21st Annual Moonlight Walk Against Drugs will be held on Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 at 7pm at Elmer Thomas Park. The Ribbon Cutting and Kickoff will take place at 7pm, with the Walk starting immediately after. Participation in our walk is FREE!

Prior to the start of the Walk, from 5:30pm-7pm, there will be several static displays and events near the start of the walk, this being the area of NW 6th and Ferris Ave. Our static displays this year will include the OHP, Crash Test Dummies, McGruff the Crime Dog, Fort Sill Police and Fire Departments, Comanche County Sheriff’s Department, LPD S.W.A.T. Display, LFD, other police and fire department vehicles and more.

This years’ walk will be dedicated to the memory of OHP Trooper Nik Green. Trooper Green provided our community with the ultimate sacrifice in his fight against drugs, drug dealers, cooks and users. We want to honor Trooper Green’s memory with this years’ walk.

Additionally, Moonlight Walk t-shirts will be available, as supplies last, at a cost of $10.00 for short sleeve. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt prior to the walk, shirts may be purchased at Stripes Division office at 309 SW 11th Street.

We are requesting citizens to organize teams representing their work, church, school, civic organization, etc., and come out and walk as a group. You can contact Det. Brent Yarbrough @ 580-581-3210 or 580-355-4636 for more information.

The public is encouraged to attend this FREE event and show support in keeping our community and especially our children drug free. This is Crime Stoppers/Drug Busters largest annual fundraiser. The monies raised for Crime Stoppers go to pay rewards to callers, who provide information leading to felony arrests and crimes solved.
