Want to tuneup the free, PlayStation Plus edition of DriveClub so it's closer to its retail counterpart? We have finally learned some details of the microtranscations Evolution Studios will be offering for its upcoming PS4 racer.

According to IGN, DriveClub director Paul Rustchynsky acknowledges the stigma gaming fans have towards microtransactions. Fortunately, Rustchynsky admits that his game's "freemium" content will not unbalance DriveClub's gameplay nor would it be a necessity to buy in order to adequately compete online.

"It’s been a hot topic of late inside gaming, and we’ve been very keen to take on board the feedback from gamers and make sure we don’t upset anyone," Rustchynsky said. "In Driveclub you earn Fame, and as you earn Fame, you level up. Every time you level up, we give you another car... The only thing we do have is a couple of shortcuts."

DriveClub will be arriving on Oct. 7 exclusively for PlayStation 4, both in its retail and free PlayStation Plus forms. Upgrading from the PS Plus edition to the full digital version will cost the discounted price of $49.99 and will give you access to all 50 cars, 55 tracks, 50 tour events and five locations (India, Chile, Norway, the United Kingdom and Canada). The free version will only include 11 tracks, 10 cars and the India location with an undisclosed number of tour events (while still offering all of DriveClub's game modes and gameplay features).
