In 2016, Michael "Moose" Thomas left Bullet for My Valentine, leaving the band without one of their original members. They've sinced tapped drummer Jason Bowld and have carried on and now Moose has resurfaced with his new band, Kill the Lights, who have also debuted a music video for the song "The Faceless."

"The Faceless" is an aggressive mix of thrash and traditional metal elements presented with a modern edge, chugging rhythmic patterns and slick production courtesy of Colin Richardson and Chris Clancy while Jens Bogren handled the mixing at Fascination Street Studios.

“We didn’t want to sound like anything – whatever came out, came out,” Moose told Kerrang!, adding, “Whatever came out was ‘us’, and there wasn’t really talk of ‘softer’ stuff. Like 'The Faceless': it’s just a fun heavy-metal song. And it’s pretty catchy!”

Joining Moose in Kill the Lights are Throw the Fight's James Clark (vocals), Still Remains’ Jordan Whelan (guitar), Threat Signal’s Travis Montgomery (guitar) and Glamour of the Kill’s Davey Richmond (bass).

The band's debut album is expected to be released some time later this year.

Prior to his exit from Bullet for My Valentine, the drummer had initially opted to sit out the band's tour with Asking Alexandria and While She Sleeps in 2016 as he and his wife were expecting their first child. The band publicly supported his decision, tapping Bowld for live duties and when Moose made his absence permanent, Bowld signed on full-time.

"When I parted company with the old band, musically I was just sitting around doing fuck all and realized I had worked too hard and come too far to turn around," said Moose. "I thought I’d get in touch with Jordan and sent him a text asking, ‘Got any riffs or what?!’ Before I knew it, he had sent me 30 or 40 songs. I was like, ‘Erm, okay!’ I couldn’t believe it."

"I’m a hobby songwriter,” adds Whelan, "which means I’m writing every day, whether it’s for a band or not. I’ve known Moose since I was a 19 year-old kid. Funnily enough, his first tour in the States was opening up for my band, then he said we should jump on a tour with them through the UK – which ended up being the Kerrang! Tour of 2006. The chemistry was there right off the bat and I knew right away this could be something that takes over the world."
