I might just be on a drone kick this week, but there's something about watching someone destroy $1000 that just gives me the giggles.

I've been captivated by drone footage all week. I'm pretty sure I want one, but I know for dang sure I don't want to pay for one...

Honestly, who pays out the wazoo for an epic piece of tech just to watch it literally burn to the ground?

I know the technology is relatively young, and everything is still reasonably expensive, but I'm waiting on that 'every mans drone' to pop on the market. We all thought it would be the Phantom II, but it instantly priced itself out of normal budgets coming in, with a camera and controller, just over a grand.

Yes, there are drones out there that are a few hundred bucks, but they're the brands the tech-mags say 'stay away' from. Hard to control, unresponsive, no built-in redundancy... Basically, a waste of good money.

But as Moore's Law has proved true since 1965, technology will get twice as good and half as cheap every year... One of these days, quality drones will be in every xmas stocking.
