Like countless rockers before them, the three members of Falling Still made a pilgrimage from the Midwest -- Akron, Ohio, to be precise -- to that great showbiz Oz, Los Angeles.

Unlike most, they quickly justified the move and began gigging around town, and by 2009, they'd hooked up with producer Michael Parnin (Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Rage Against The Machine) for the first in a series of releases.

It's only with their forthcoming self-titled EP, however, that Falling Still feel they've hit their stride. Working again with Parnin, the band has crafted a collection they call "loud and exhilarating" -- a description that applies to both bluesy Queens of the Stone Age-style chuggers like 'If U Stay' and the slinkier likes of 'Thin Lizzy,' today's free -- and deceptively carefree -- MP3 download.

"'Thin Lizzy' is a dreamy, kind of surreal story about two people who have lost touch with one another, but neither has any intention of changing the situation," the band tells Diffuser.fm. "The pair would rather remain unhappily stuck together than uproot themselves and try to make changes in their lives. The hope is that one day they'll be able to work it out, but who knows?  Even though the song sounds fun and jaunty, it portrays a sad situation."
