They may be one of the biggest bands on the planet, but Foo Fighters have never shied away from playing smaller venue shows. And on Saturday (April 18), the band took over the Record Connection in a Niles, Ohio strip mall to play for 150 or so lucky fans as part of the Record Store Day festivities.

As previously reported, Foo frontman Dave Grohl was named as this year's Record Store Day ambassador, a role that he took further than some of those who preceded him, by taking his band to the non-descript store. "Let's pretend this is a stadium show," said Grohl at one point, urging the fans to yell and pump their fists in unison.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the show began with Grohl offering a simple "Good morning" and stated, "We're gonna play a bunch of songs as fast as we can." The set list kicked off with the blistering "White Limo." Other tracks during the set included the raucous "Arlandria," an "old school version" of "Big Me," an extended version of "The Pretender" and a punked-up rendition of "My Hero."

There were also references to Dave Grohl's Ohio roots, as the show took place in the city where Grohl was born and there were references to Dave Grohl Alley in nearby Warren, Ohio where the singer spent his early youth.

Newer tracks like "Congregation" and "Outside" also hit their mark, and the band worked in "Alone + Easy Target" and their cover of Kim Wilde's "Kids in America," both of which appeared on the Songs From the Laundry Room 10-inch vinyl that was made available for Record Store Day. Foo Fighters finished out the gig with a thank you to those in attendance before delivering the slow burn sing-along favorite "Everlong."
