A new video has surfaced that shows an online gamer streaming himself being swatted. It's not what you think, swatting isn't some gamer term for losing or getting your virtual butt kicked. It's much, much worse!

Basically swatting is when someone prank calls 911 or other emergency services to report a crime, bomb threat, domestic disturbance or some other form of critical event at your location. The ideal is the police or better yet bomb squad and S.W.A.T. team shows up at your house turning your home and neighborhood into a huge crime scene. I fail to see the humor in this, but it's being done more often than you think.

The first time I heard of this was earlier this year when it became headline news after a few incidents occurred. While Swatting at this time has been primarily done between online gamers and against celebrities it could easily end up being done to just about anyone, including you. This is why it's so important especially online that you protect your identity and physical location. Hackers can use your I.P. address and other details to find your exact location so be careful and take steps to secure your information.
