Ghost have just unveiled a music video for their new song “Square Hammer,” paying tribute to 1920s expressionist horror as Papa and the ghouls take in a night at the movies.

Ghost simply seem unstoppable when it comes to creating addictive occult anthems. “Square Hammer” comes from the cult act’s new EP, Popestar, which features five new cuts. The “Square Hammer” video features some stylistic callbacks to “From the Pinnacle to the Pit,” but adding a little humor to the mix.

The masked bandmates arrive at their own movie, which is history’s “first ever moving picture,” as dazzled paparazzi eagerly snap photos of Ghost. The film bares striking similarities to Nosferatu, only instead of a vampire laying in the coffin, a man finds the almighty Square Hammer. Thankfully, things in the theater begin to go horrible wrong as a giant Papa Emeritus III reaches out from the screen and turns into a colony of bats which fly into the night.

In an entertaining instance of duality, the members of Ghost (including Papa Emeritus III’s alternate form) take to the streets and prepare to fight Giant Papa. There’s even a Ghost version of Batman’s Bat-Signal calling for the band’s help.
