The classic Misfits lineup will return to the stage this year, something that many suspected would never happen. Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only have famously battled over the rights to the band's name and merchandising for years, but the pair have set aside their differences to join with guitarist Doyle to all play together for the first time since 1983.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Danzig said that the two Riot Fest shows that have been announced are a good start to a truce, stating, "I don't think people should question it too much. It may have never happened, but it is going to happen for at least two shows. We'll see how it goes. It may lead to some other work, but who knows how it's going to turn out? I mean, I don't think it's going to be a disaster, I think it's going to be incredible."

Later in the interview, Danzig revealed that the rash of recent iconic musician deaths is yet another reason why it is better to reunite now while the opportunity is there. "It's been a shock to see so many musicians dying this year," he says. "A lot of them weren't really that old. David Bowie's death came out of the blue, as did Prince's. And I've said it before with Peter Steele and Dio: If you're a music fan, you think these artists will be here forever, but you should enjoy them while they're here, because you never know what will happen. You've got to enjoy it and let it happen before everybody dies." That being said, Danzig and his classic era bandmates are among the most fit in music, with the Only laughing, "My brother [Doyle] could be on the cover of every muscle magazine lately."

While Only said he and Danzig have always been friends despite their differences and legal battles, Danzig says that's not the case. "We haven't been friends," explains Danzig. "In the beginning we were friends but ... certain things happened that made it not a friendship. We're putting that in the past." While Danzig and Only haven't been on the same page in the past, the rocker says that both he and the bassist share the common goal of making these shows special.

"Obviously, this reunion is special," Danzig says. "We haven't played together in 33 years, so we know it will be special. I'm just going to do what I normally do. which is to go out there and try and have a great time myself and make sure everybody has a fantastic f--king time. I want them to be so blown away they don't know what the f--k just hit them."
