Last night (Jan. 12), Avenged Sevenfold kicked off their headlining tour with Breaking Benjamin and Bullet for my Valentine, giving fans in Nashville, Tenn. a special surprise as the band was joined by Halestorm's Lzzy Hale on a cover of Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here."

When M. Shadows introduced Hale, the crowd erupted, but quickly fell back into a lulled state as the song's familiar whimsical acoustic strumming took over. Hale does her best to remain subdued throughout the opening verse, injecting a bit of power and grit at times to bring the classic cut into the modern day. The highlight comes toward the end when Hale lets it rip, belting out the final verse while Shadows' more somber voice lies beneath hers.

Avenged's frontman gave Hale a resounding endorsement, declaring, "The best fucking singer in all of rock 'n' roll right there," before the song's end.

"Wish You Were Here" is just one of the cover tracks featured on the recently-released deluxe edition of Avenged Sevenfold's The Stage, but was the band's only cover selection of the night. The set also included the live debut of "Higher" and it remains to be seen if this set is locked in for the full run or if A7X will be rotating songs in and out of their set as the trek continues. To see if the tour is stopping at a city near you, head here for a list of the remaining U.S. dates.
