We’ve all heard that heat always rises, and the NBA Finals were no exception. But the Thunder organization and fans did their fair share of rising as well. Despite a 4-1 series loss in the 2012 NBA Finals, the Thunder players, coaches, and fans can rest easy knowing they handled the defeat with dignity. The season may be over, but the love, respect, and pride fans have for the Thunder won’t end.

Last night was all about the three game for the Heat. They went 14 of 26 from beyond the arc. That’s shooting over 50 percent. With shooting like that, there’s almost no way you can lose.
The Thunder focused so much on trying to stop LeBron that the Miami shooters were left wide open. And they took advantage. Mike Miller was a beast in game 5 and scored 21 points from three-pointers alone.

The halftime deficit was only ten points (59-49), but the Thunder would not have the lead again. The Heat led by as many as 26 in the third quarter, and a 19-1 Miami run put the game away. The Thunder continued to play hard and had closed the gap to 15 points by the time the final buzzer sounded, ending the game at 121-106.

Finals MVP LeBron logged in a triple double—26 points, 11 boards, and 13 assists. D Wade scored 20 points and had 8 rebounds, while Bosh came up with 24 points and 7 rebounds. Scoring champ Durant finished with 32 points, while Westbrook and Harden had 19 each.
No Thunder fan will forget the emotional picture of Durant hugging his mom, tears in his eyes, after the game. “It hurts. We're all brothers on this team, and it just hurt to go out like this. We made it to the Finals, which was cool for us, but we didn't just want to make it there.

Unfortunately, we lost, so it's tough,” said Durant on losing in the Finals. This brotherhood, this classiness, this historic and fun-filled season is what fans will remember. Many Thunder followers tweeted about feeling empty inside and not knowing what to do now that basketball season is over (which is a real concern). But many more also tweeted about still being a proud Thunder fan no matter what and thanked our boys for their fantastic season.

Now that’s Thundering Up!
