"Man, that's an awesome Hi-Point" Said no-one ever... Until now. Hi-Point is apparently becoming the affordable competition pistol!

Now, before you go assuming I'm some kind of a gun-snob, keep in mind that I am... Complete and totally a lover of quality guns. Does that mean I'm going to make fun of your gun at the range? Probably.  Does that mean I don't own a Hi-Point? Not exactly...

Hi-Points are, what we refer to as, dumpster guns... The joke being that it's the $100 gun you buy, commit crimes with, and throw in a dumpster on your way home...

That being said, I've had the chance to shoot a Hi-Point in the last few years, and I personally wouldn't mind having one. (even if it's purely for the sake of hilarity) The pistol I shot was accurate to a degree, reliable through two boxes of Winchester white box .45acp, and though it weighed as much as a 50's Caddilac, it sure did soak up the recoil.

Does that mean it would make a good competition gun? Hells no! All the same, on a dare, one of my buddies actually shot and won a tactical match with a Hi-Point 45... It just so happens he's a better shooter than most of us will ever be, but it has happened.

Guess it goes to show that you really can't judge a gun by it's reputation. (Unless it's a Taurus... Friends don't let friends buy Taurus')
