Bacon and eggs. Bacon with pancakes or waffles. Bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. Bacon on a burger or in you salad. Lets face it. Bacon is a staple in the food chain of many people. On average Americans eat almost 18 pounds of bacon per year. That is a lot of pigs. And the price of bacon could be going up next year. If pork belies go up, the price of bacon at your favorite store or butcher shop will go up as well.
So why don’t you celebrate with something really out of the ordinary. For go the plain old strip of bacon with your meal. Go for the gusto and dive into a platter of “Chicken Fried Bacon.” that is correct. Taking two of what some health experts say is a heart attack waiting to happen and making it a main course.
The idea for the meal came about in the early 1990’s. Fred Sodolak invented this recipie in his restaurant in Snook Texas. In Texas huh? The same place that has deep fried Twinkies, Snickers Bars and Butter at their State Fair each October. Any way back to the bacon.
The bacon strips are dredged in batter and deep fried (like chicken fried steak) and served with a bowl of cream gravy. I hope they serve a pitcher if sweet tea with that. And where are the biscuits?
