In Denmark, They Teach Children How to Play with Knives

Believe it or not, in Denmark, children as young as 3 are taught how to properly and safely use knives. Is it really that crazy?

Remarkably, these little kids are learning the basics of knife safety, and how to use them as tools. Sure, for all intents and purposes, they're sharp weapons... but when taught to properly treat blades, incidents are very, very rare.

Beyond the lessons on how to use a knife, they are taught, more importantly, respect for their knives. Sure, they can slice right through flesh and bone, but none of these kids are out there running around like a juggalo trying to hatchet someone to death...

Reminds me of my childhood. When gun safety was more-or-less taught in school and in scouts. Where we learned to use them... care for them... respect them... and respect the value of a life.

Maybe it's time that parents grow up a little. Stop treating kids with egg-shell gloves. Teach them something about responsibility, respect, and the value of another life.
