With all the Pixar sequels in the works, many fans have been left asking why we're not getting an 'Incredibles 2.' Up until this point it's been because writer/director Brad Bird has been reluctant to return to the franchise but now Bird is softening his stance giving hope that a sequel to one of the best superhero movies (seriously!) could be on the way some time soon.

Bird, who had previously worked on 'The Simpsons' and 'The Iron Giant,' worked with Pixar on 'The Incredibles' but has since moved on to live-action films including 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.' He was frustrated at the amount of time it took to make an animated film (four years for 'The Incredibles') and wanted to be able to make more movies. But as Bird preps his next live-action film 'Tomorrowland' with George Clooney, the director says he would never rule out an 'Incredibles 2' and actually hints that it might happen.

Bird told The Hollywood Reporter:

I have been thinking about it. People think that I have not been, but I have. Because I love those characters and love that world. I am stroking my chin and scratching my head. I have many, many elements that I think would work really well in another [Incredibles] film, and if I can get ‘em to click all together, I would probably wanna do that.

Pixar has been focused on making at least one sequel for every two original films they produce and have 'Monsters University' and 'Finding Dory' both in the works (not to mention the oft-rumored 'Toy Story 4'). The studio would surely be glad to have 'Incredibles 2' (especially at a time when superhero movies are as popular as they are) but the question is whether Bird could ever find the time. Filming on 'Tomorrowland' hasn't even begun yet and if he could start work on 'Incredibles 2,' it wouldn't be until about 2015 meaning we'd have to wait until almost the end of the decade before we see this film.

Of course, good things come to those who wait and having an 'Incredibles 2' in 2019 might be better than never having an 'Incredibles 2' at all...
