J.J. Abrams and ‘Fringe’ Producer’s Robot Cop Drama Is Coming to FOX
No, you’re not dreaming. Though it might seem these days that J.J. Abrams has a little too much on his plate between directing the next ‘Star Wars‘ and whatever will become of the re-booted ‘Star Trek‘ franchise, the prolific producer is keeping his hands in TV as well. FOX has officially ordered to pilot a futuristic new drama from Abrams and former ‘Fringe‘ producer/showrunner J.H. Wyman, but will the latest effort fare better than its predecessor? Find out the latest on Abrams’ and Wyman’s robotic future-cops inside!
‘Fringe’ only wrapped its series finale a week ago, but FOX is already putting J.J. Abrams and J.H. Wyman back to work. The network has officially ordered a pilot episode of the pair’s as-yet-untitled futuristic cop drama, for a likely fall 2013 debut.
Set in the near future, the new series continues Wyman’s interest in jumping ahead through time with an action-packed buddy cop drama wherein all LAPD officers are partnered with highly evolved human-like androids. Wyman will write the script for the FOX pilot, executive producing with Bad Robot’s Abrams, Bryan Burk and Kathy Lingg.
What do you think? Does the latest sci-fi partnership between Wyman and Abrams have potential on the FOX network, or will it receive the same treatment as ‘Fringe’? Will Abrams be able to contribute much given his new gig directing ‘Star Wars’? Give us your thoughts in the comments!
