Grind merchants Agoraphobic Nosebleed have parted ways with vocalist Kat Katz. Though ANb released a fairly benign statement on Katz’s departure, the piercing screamer wrote on her own Facebook page that she was “tired of being bullied by dudes.”

In the last decade, Katz has become one of extreme metal’s most prominent vocalists. Her spellbinding high shrieks, deep gutturals and unnerving lyrics brought attention to both Agoraphobic Nosebleed and doom band Salome. With Katz having left both bands — for similar reasons according to the vocalist — she’s now hoping to find a band that “treats me as an equal.”

Katz wrote last night (Oct. 25):

Agoraphobic Nosebleed responded to Katz’ post with their own:

News update: We’ve had some disagreements with Kat about how we should interact in the band, and as a result she quit. We wish her well with music in the future.
Scott has some writing and recording to wrap up with Pig Destroyer, and after that he’ll start writing music for the next ANb record.

Agoraphobic Nosebleed’s latest release, Arc, was heavily centered around Katz and her mother’s battle with schizophrenia.
