KISS have shown their support time and time again for the military and they continued to do so in a very generous way this past weekend in Lake Oswego, Oregon. The band managed to raise $1 million for the renovation of the Oregon Military Museum.

According to Oregon Live, the group raised the funds via playing a show and auctioning off one of Paul Stanley's guitars. The group performed at a charity gala for the Oregon Historical Outreach Foundation, who are seeking to raise $15 million for the renovation project.

In addition to their dedication to the military, KISS guitarist and Oregon native Tommy Thayer has been heavily involved with the military museum project. The museum is set to be named after his father, 93-year-old Brigadier General James B. Thayer, a World War II hero who liberated a Nazi death camp in 1945.

In addition to the funds raised by the concert, Stanley's guitar, which he has played since 1989, went for $20,000 in the auction.

The Museum broke ground at Clackamas' Camp Withycombe earlier this year and is reportedly now halfway past the $15 million fundraising goal.
