Z94 was recently invited out for the 'Grand Opening' of Lawton R.C. Raceway, the largest R.C. park in the state! It's located at 7807 S.E. Lee Blvd just 1.2 miles East of the KSWO T.V. tower on Highway 7 on the right.

We had a great time at the raceway watching all the different cars, trucks and full blown mods running the track at incredible speeds. These vehicles are a lot faster than I originally thought and can turn on a dime! It was amazing to see them going through the jumps, bank turns and straightaways.

I've owned several R.C's in my time, but none of them where like these. There's a HUGE difference between actual racing R.C's and what you get at Wal-Mart that's for sure! I learned a lot while I was there and got a chance to get an inside look at these speed machines up close. Everyone at the raceway and those who brought out their R.C's to run were very friendly and didn't mind answering 1,000's of questions, most were stupid sadly. I went from person to person, table to table getting to know some of the drivers/operators and somewhat familiar with all the different R.C's from electric to nitros!

Watching them in action and seeing the operators control these things was impressive to say the least. Several races happened that day with various classes and set ups. They even had a 'Cruiser' race where one person controls the throttle and brake, while the other controls the steering. From cars, trucks, 2 wheel drive to 4 wheel drive we saw it all!

Lawton R.C. Raceway has several different tracks including their practice track, the large main track that challenges operators with jumps, banks and everything in between, PLUS they have a circle track that they're running vintage cars and sprint cars on. Nothing's cooler than seeing vintage hot rods running the oval!

You've got to get out there and do some racing, or just watch. Either way you'll have a great time. It's really inexpensive too! Just $5.00 to get in / $5.00 to race. When you pay your entry fee and track fee you get a voucher or coupon of the same value to use at their hobby shop and concession stand. The kids will have a great time too, not just racing, they have a playground set up as well. It's inside a covered building so rain or shine, hot or cold the kids will be able to play.

Lawton R.C. Raceway is open Tuesday 6:00pm to 9:00pm for Practice & Friday 5:30pm to 9:30pm for Oval Track Racing. They're also open every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00am til Races are over (usually around 7:30pm).

They have a Hobby Shop onsite that sells and services all makes of RC's. They've got great prices, NOBODY sells for less! The Hobby Shop is open 7 days a week, just call (580) 919-7599 from 7:00am to 9:00pm for the Best Prices anywhere! If they don't have it, they can get it, usually in just 2 to 3 days! Check 'em out on their official Facebook page!
