Five devout anti-gun liberals get a chance to put lead down range, experiencing shooting a gun for the first time. They too discover the awesomeness.

It's always fun taking one of my far-lefty liberal friends out to the gun range. After going over basic firearm safety, there's only one thing left to do. Get that first round down range.

Every first-time shooter does the same thing. Points the gun in the general direction of the target, closes their eyes dramatically, and reluctantly pulls the trigger.

Every single time I've taken someone out, I've received the same reaction. A huge ear-to-ear smile followed by some sort of excited yelling. Nine times out of ten, at least one newb will then turn around to say something, not realizing they're pointing a gun at their friends. A little gentle safety lecturing, and we're off again with a few more rounds.

While I don't always sway the political stance of those friends, everyone has a good time. Most newbie shooters don't realize that the controlled environment they just experienced is the same way legal and lawful citizens enjoy their shooting sports. They eventually realize that owning a gun doesn't make you some Wild-West cowboy, or some South-Central thug. It just makes you the same person you were, but with a new fun hobby.

Be safe, shoot straight.
