One of the most shocking stories of 2012 is certainly the arrest of Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins for numerous counts of child sex charges. The news of Watkins' multiple charges broke two weeks ago, and the singer finally appeared in court on Dec. 31, where he was ordered to remain in police custody until March 11.

Ian Watkins is facing charges of conspiring to rape a 1-year-old girl, two incidents of "sexual touching" involving young children and the possession and distribution of both "indecent images of children" and "extreme animal pornography." Watkins was hit with these charges on Dec. 19 as he appeared before Cardiff Magistrates' Court, where he and two other females allegedly involved were denied bail. One of the unnamed females, 20, has not been charged with conspiracy to rape, although she faces all other charges.

According to the BBC, Ian Watkins appeared wearing a black suit, shirt and tie at Cardiff Crown Court earlier today (Dec. 31). It was decided in this latest proceeding that Watkins and the two females will remain in jail until their next court appearance on March 11.

After learning of Watkins' graphic charges, the other members of Lostprophets released the following statement:

Following charges made today against Ian Watkins, we find ourselves in a state of shock. We are learning about the details of the investigation along with you. It is a difficult time for us and our families, and we want to thank our fans for their support as we seek answers.
