Whether you call them energy balls, bites, snacks, or DIY candy bars, these look really easy and cheap to make. With little more than oat meal, some nuts, any kind of nut butter, and whatever else you want to pop into them in little to no time. Pack it in your work bag, and off you go.

If you'll just search the web for recipes, they vary greatly, and all seem pretty delicious. Never had chia seeds myself, but if they're anything like flax, you might hide them with chocolate.
