Captain America‘ star Hayley Atwell finally reprised her role as ‘Agent Carter‘ in a Marvel “One-Shot” on the ‘Iron Man 3‘ Blu-ray release, which earned such positive reception that Marvel Studios was revealed to be giving serious thought to an ‘Agent Carter’ TV series alongside ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..’ Now, Atwell has finally weighed in on the prospect of taking Cap’s former girl to the small screen, emphatically stating, “I’d definitely do it!”

News of a potential ‘Agent Carter’ TV series first broke weeks ago, specifying that ‘Agent Carter’ marks one of several potential spinoffs in the works at Marvel, though no writer had yet been assigned to the series, nor had Atwell been approached. Speaking to Digital Spy, Hayley Atwell commented on the possible series to say “The one-shot was so successful, the fanbase were like, ‘We want more of Peggy!.’ I think Marvel probably take that very seriously, and it’s certainly something I would be a part of doing. I’d be interested to show different sides of Peggy.”

Moreover, Atwell affirmed her commitment to reprising the character should a series move forward, particularly one that highlighted how well the character stands against her male Marvel counterparts:

Although she’s kick-ass, and she can be aggressive and she can be just as competent as the men, it’d be nice to show that she’s a feminist in a way. It’s not just about her being aggressive and as aggressive as the men in those action sequences, but being able to be a little bit more rounded as a person.

I think she could be a great role model and a great member of the Marvel Universe. I love the Marvel lot, they’re really great people to work with, so it would be nice to go back and work with them again. I’d definitely do it.

Much as ‘Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”s popularity arose from several prior one-shots including “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Thor’s Hammer” and the post-’Avengers‘ “Item 47,” an ‘Agent Carter’-inspired TV series would no doubt fit in well with ABC’s strongly female-skewing dramas. For those unfamiliar with Marvel’s interest in exploring the character, the ‘Agent Carter’ one-shot contains several direct tie-ins to the ongoing Marvel universe, while Atwell has also been said to reprise the role for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier.’

Spinoff-happy as TV has been lately, we’d watch the hell out of an ‘Agent Carter’ TV series, so what say you? Are you glad to see Hayley Atwell committing to reprise the role for a potential TV series? Tell us what Marvel characters you’d want to see explored on TV after the ‘Agent Carter’ clip below!
