Gigantour may just have one of the most explosive lineups of any tour this year. Headlining the trek are Megadeth and Motorhead with support from Volbeat and Lacuna Coil.

The legendary thrash metalers of Megadeth tore the stage up and played a wide range of songs such as ‘Hangar 18,’ ‘Trust,’ ‘Symphony of Destruction’ as well as newer tracks ‘Public Enemy No. 1’ and ‘Whose Life (Is It Anyways?).’ Frontman Dave Mustaine also sang happy birthday to his daughter during ‘Peace Sells.’

The very elegant Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil joined him onstage during ‘A Tout Le Monde.’ After recently having neck surgery last year, Mustaine performed with vigor and the talent of the entire band got everyone in the venue jumping.

Fellow legends Motorhead ripped through their set and had everyone on their feet while they performed classic and new tunes from their recent release ‘The World Is Yours’ such as ‘I Know How to Die’ as well as fan favorites ‘Ace of Spades’ and ‘Metropolis’ and many others. Crowd surfers came alive and during the final song and one even jumped on stage but was retained immediately. Before they performed their last tune ‘Overkill,’ frontman Lemmy Kilmister said, “Don’t forget us, we’re Motorhead and we play rock ‘n’ roll.” Indeed, they do.

For about five minutes before Volbeat took the stage, a female fan screamed the band’s name at the top of her lungs. When the band appeared, they rocked out and began their set with ‘The Human Instrument.’ Frontman Michael Poulsen and the rest of the band had vibrant crowd interaction and got hands clapping, mouths singing and bodies moshing. They performed tracks from their latest album ‘Beyond Hell / Above Heaven’ such as ‘Mirror and the Ripper’ and ‘Fallen’ and dedicated ‘Sad Man’s Tongue’ to the late Johnny Cash. They ended their set with an awesome instrumental piece of Slayer’s ‘Raining Blood.’

The show was opened up by none other than Italian rockers Lacuna Coil which meant the night was set to be one of high energy. The band started off their set with ‘Our Truth’ and performed new songs from their latest release ‘Dark Adrenaline’ such as ‘Kill the Light,’ ‘Upsidedown,’ and their single ‘Trip the Darkness.’

Frontwoman Cristina Scabbia twirled around and had mesmerizing stage presence as she and co-vocalist Andrea Ferro belted out vocals flawlessly. The only complaint is that even though the concert was running 20 minutes ahead of schedule, the band’s set was way too short.
