Fans who "liked" the Melvins on Facebook in order to get updates about the band's attempt at setting a world record with their 51 States in 51 Days tour but haven't been hearing much about it, don't blame the Melvins. In a recent Facebook note -- which you probably didn't see -- the band explains a new policy requiring page administrators to pay a fee if they want all of their fans to actually see the post.

As they explain in note, which was posted here on Facebook but has since been taken down (by whom, it's not clear):

Here's the deal, apparently: Facebook now requires page admins to pay to promote their updates if we want our content to be seen by our fans who have already like our page. If we do not pay to promote our posts, only about 10% of the fans receive the updates on the Facebook home page feed.

To keep RECEIVING ALL POSTS FROM US you have to hover the mouse on the “Like” button near our name. In the drop-down menu select ”ADD TO INTEREST LISTS”. Then create an interest list (and make a name for your favorite sites). When you select that interest list you will again get all of our posts and not 10% of them.

Please share this with your friends, as it's likely that 90% of you are not seeing this. If you do not, you are subject to a MELVINS ARMY court martial.

Sadly, if you do this right now, you will probably get only a few more notes from the Melvins about their 51-date tour, as it's scheduled to wind down today (Oct. 25) in Honolulu, Hawaii, and we expect them to take a rather lengthy break once it is done. Wouldn't you take some serious time off?

But as sad that that is -- and as thrilled the Melvins are that their seven weeks of tour insanity is almost over -- you can rest assured that the band will resume posting to Facebook soon enough, and at that point, you'll be glad that you updated your interests to include the Melvins.

Coincidentally, if you would like to receive all of Diffuser.fm's updates on Facebook, you have to add us to that same interests list. Just saying, is all.
