It's a great time to be a Metallica fan. The band is back on the road, they have fresh material that they continue to roll out from their Hardwired ... To Self-Destruct album and both Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo seem to be having the time of their lives with the moments set aside in their shows for a little side instrumentation.

The band's "noodle" sessions for the musicians have garnered quite a bit of interest, as the bassist and guitarist frequently switch up what they play during this section of the show depending on the audience or whatever their whim is on any given night. During the band's stop in Birmingham, England, the guys decided to show some love for the hometown heroes of Black Sabbath.

Watch as Hammett and Trujillo pull out a bit of Sabbath's "War Pigs" at Birmingham's Genting Arena, the same venue that hosted Sabbath's final bow earlier this year. The fan-shot clip finds the two musicians noodling around for a bit before transitioning into the song, with the crowd immediately picking up on the riff, clapping along and singing as well. Though playing, Trujillo can't help but join in the singing leading the crowd through the song. As part of the "noodle" section, Hammett and Trujillo have also been including bits of Metallica's own "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" at recent shows, but that's not featured in the fan-shot video above.

Earlier this week, the pair also pulled out Oasis' "Don't Look Back in Anger" for the people of Manchester as a nod to the city's resilience after the concert bombing there earlier this year, as well as a bit of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart" in honor of the iconic Manchester band. For those attending upcoming shows, the "noodle" jam has typically come after the performances of "Halo on Fire" off the new album, so be sure not to leave your seats.

Metallica will wrap their European dates with a pair of dates this week in Antwerp, Belgium before returning home for a Nov. 9 show at San Francisco's AT&T Park. But don't fret Metallica fans, as the band will be back with plenty more touring in 2018. See all of their scheduled stops here.
