From the moment the first beats kick in, Metallica's 'Master of Puppets' continually reaffirms its status of one of the greatest metal tracks ever. So it should come as no surprise that Metallica are using their live performance of the song from the 'Metallica Through the Never' film to hype up the movie's soundtrack.

The concert rendition of the track hits as hard as ever, with the guitars and drums working in perfect synchronicity to drive home the opening beats and from there the group is off to the races. The song is also featured in the trailer for the film and shown in a scene where very fittingly riots break out en masse. Take a listen to the concert version of 'Master of Puppets' currently streaming at Rolling Stone.

As for the 'Metallica Through the Never' soundtrack, it's currently on schedule for a Sept. 24 release. The two-disc collection features 16 Metallica favorites in all their live ferocity. The set is currently available for pre-order via iTunes and will also be issued on vinyl later this fall.

The film will open in IMAX theaters on Sept. 27, with additional non-IMAX theaters picking up the movie on Oct. 4.
