Metallica are arguably at the height of their popularity well into the fourth decade of their career. The band seems to be having a tremendous amount of fun of their current "WorldWired" tour in support of last year's Hardwired... To Self-Destruct. At a recent stop in Paris, the thrash titans paid homage to the French metal act Trust, jamming on a bit of their hit "Antisocial" to the elation of the crowd.

The song gained a significant boost in popularity as one of the featured tracks on Anthrax's 1988 album, State of Euphoria, and now it was time for another Big 4 act to put their spin on it. It wasn't a full band effort, however, with just Robert Trujillo and Kirk Hammett playing a portion of "Antisocial." An animated Trujillo walked over to Hammett and the two, laughing, began playing the clean-toned intro while the crowd chanted "Whoa-oh" along with the lick. Then the heaviness came in and it was clear James Hetfield's vocal assistance wasn't needed as the fans screamed the words aloud. After the chorus was over, the musicians embraced and walked off to different parts of the stage.

Earlier in the tour, Metallica delivered a similar tribute to Van Halen when they performed in the band's home town of Pasadena, Calif. in July. The band beamed with smiles as they ran through the first verse and chorus of "Runnin' With the Devil," and Hetfield even reached into his upper register for a couple David Lee Roth-like wails.
