Following last week's (Aug. 4) brief reunion of Staind at the Pines Theater at Look Park in Northampton, Mass., fans have obviously been hoping that it will turn into a more permanent thing for the band, which has been on hiatus since 2014.

"We talk about it. We've been talking about it. It's just timing needs to be right for it to happen," guitarist Mike Mushok tells iRock Radio, adding he's not sure if it would be in a touring capacity only or with a new album. "See, that's the biggest question. That's the thing; there's definitely different hurdles and things that we need to figure out to get to that point. I'd definitely like to do new music."

Staind hasn't released a new album since their self-titled effort in 2011. "I don't think it's necessary for us to do a 10-song record," Mushok adds. "It's just so much work to get a good record done. [Albums] don't sell at all. You get the same bang for the buck if you put out one or three [songs], or whatever it is; as long as it's great."

"So...I don't know," he continues. "These things need to kind of be figured out. And we'll see. Hopefully it happens sooner than later."

Since Staind went on hiatus, Mushok served a stint in Jason Newsted's self-titled band, then joined Saint Asonia, who are currently prepping their sophomore release. Staind frontman Aaron Lewis, meanwhile, has been focusing primarily on his solo career in country music for the past few years. Following last week's performance together, Lewis said that the band will never operate again as a full-time touring act.

“The touring machine, as you call it, of Staind will never be again. Not like that, no. Never. Never,” stated Lewis. “I could never go back to playing six shows [a week] eight weeks in a row. I can’t do that. I have grown in my age and become very accustomed to playing Thursday, Friday and Saturday and being able to go home for a few days and unwind and try to kind of have a life aside from doing this.”
