Maryland Deathfest will be celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2017 and organizers have revealed the first wave of bands for next Memorial Day weekend. Leading the 19 band announcement are death metal veterans Morbid Angel and Autopsy.

Morbid Angel, which is currently comprised of founding guitarist Trey Azagthoth and bassist / vocalist Steve Tucker, have yet to announce any additional members with vacancies at the second guitar slot and drums after parting ways with axeman Thor Anders Myhren and drummer Tim Yeung last year along with frontman David Vincent. Four U.S. exclusive appearances will be made from the recently reunited Akercocke, Behexen, the reunited In the Woods... and Sargeist.

Also slated to perform at the four day festival (which in recent years has been extended to five days with the Pre-Fest taking place on the Wednesday preceding Memorial Day weekend) are Acid King, Brodequin, Decrepit Birth, Dopethrone, Embalmer, Iron Lung, Kerasphorus, Macabre, Nightbringer, Nordjevel, Siege and Usurper. Grindcore progenitors Terrorizer will be performing their landmark debut, World Downfall, in its entirety as well.

Early bird four day passes are already sold out, though they were released in a limited capacity. More four day passes and band announcements will be coming soon.

Maryland Deathfest wrapped up the 2016 edition just over one month ago. Outdoor headliners included Mayhem, Testament and Venom and featured a wealth of the best from the extreme metal pool including Samael, Repulsion, Rotten Sound, Nuclear Assault, Wormed, Incantation and Doom.
