My Bloody Valentine’s New Album ‘Might Be Out in Two or Three Days’

My Bloody Valentine fans, your seemingly endless wait for a new album may finally be over very, very soon. The legendary shoegaze act performed tonight (Jan. 27) in Brixton, U.K., and, according to an NME report, at one point during the show, frontman Kevin Shields announced that the band’s long-awaited follow-up to their watershed 1991 album ‘Loveless’ “might be out in two or three days.”

My Bloody Valentine are gearing up for a February tour of Japan and Australia, and during last night’s show — a warm-up for the overseas jaunts — they also performed a new tune titled ‘Rough Song,’ which you can listen to and watch above. The footage is a bit lo-fi, but the clip appears to feature five people onstage — drummer, keyboardist, singer, bassist and guitarist Shields — performing the five-minute song, a mid-tempo number with prominent keyboards melodies and Shields’ trademark tone-bending guitar swells layered on top of a precise, percussion-led groove. It sounds pretty freaking awesome.

MBV have also lined up a one-off U.S. concert between the Japanese and Australian dates on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14), plus a handful of U.K. dates for March. Check out their updated itinerary here. The as-yet-untitled ‘Loveless’ follow-up has been rumored for years, but the possibility of its arrival heated up last fall when Shields announced that the disc had finally been mastered and would drop by the end of the year.

That deadline, of course, has come and gone, but it sounds like there’s a distinct possibility that MBV’s ‘Loveless’ follow-up may finally arrive this week. Fingers crossed!
