My First Roller Derby Bout – 580 Rollergirls Gun Down The OKC Outlaws!

Last Saturday night (05-05-12) I went to my very first roller derby at the Great Plains Coliseum. The entire family came along to cheer on our local team the 580 Rollergirls as they took on the OKC Outlaws. It turned out to be not only a great time, but one hell of a bout!

The teams were evenly matched and the entire bout was close, going into halftime it was all tied up. The lead changed several times throughout the night but in the end the 580 Rollergirls pulled ahead to win and took out the OKC Outlaws 124 to 109 With this being my first bout I really didn't know what to expect. I've seen roller derby on T.V. and movies but never in person, It's much better live. Show up and you'll become a fan!

I was a little lost at first with how things work, the rules and how you score points. The announcers did a great job of detailing and explaining what was going on. Plus their comic remarks throughout the evening only added to the fun. If like myself you're new to the sport you'll catch on quick.

The 580 Rollergirls will be hitting the road for their next bout on (05-19-12) in Wichita Falls, TX. taking on the Red River Roller Derby. The next home bout will be on (06-09-12) at the Great Plains Coliseum against the Mountain Gateway Sisterhood Of Steel. Don't miss it, bring the whole family!
