New ‘Man of Steel’ Poster: It’s a Bird! It’s a Plane!

The last time a new 'Man of Steel' poster arrived, we made a joke about how a new one-sheet for the upcoming Superman film seems to arrive every day. Well, we've reached the point where that's stopped being a joke and has started becoming a reality. Thankfully, the new poster is probably the best one yet.

While the new poster isn't going to win any awards, it's a far nicer and simpler design than most of what we've seen so far. Most importantly, it's pretty classy looking. Painterly, even. In other words, it's nothing at all like the nightmarish floating heads and abusive Photoshop that you see on the vast majority of posters for studios releases (we're looking right at you, 'Iron Man 3'). More than any of the others, this poster seems to be searching for the right way to sell 'Man of Steel' is the spiritual cousin to Christopher Nolan's Batman films and it most succeeds -- put it alongside of the best posters for 'The Dark Knight Rises' and they look like they belong in the same universe.

'Man of Steel' arrives on June 14th and stars Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane and Russell Crowe.
