June 2012 is around the corner and with it comes a tidal wave of new releases from several of our favorite alternative and indie artists. Some of the most anticipated albums of 2012 come out in June, including new discs from Fiona Apple, Smashing Pumpkins, the Hives, the Temper Trap and Guided by Voices.

Fiona Apple makes her long-awaited comeback — and releases her second disc with a title that’s way too long for its own good — with the 23-word titled ‘The Idler Wheel…,’ her follow-up to 2005′s excellent ‘Extraordinary Machine.’ The disc’s first single ‘Every Single Night’ got a glowing review from Diffuser.fm and and pretty much everywhere else, prompting fans to expect more greatness from Apple.

Other anticipated June 2012 releases include Chris Robinson Brotherhood‘s ’Big Moon Ritual,’ Metric‘s ‘Synthetica,’ Hot Chip‘s ‘In Our Heads’ and the Flaming Lips‘ ‘The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends.’
