Avenged Sevenfold are huge video game fans, so it was a no-brainer for the band when they were approached to do something special for the newly-released 'Call of Duty: Black Ops II' game. Not only did they contribute the song 'Carry On' to the soundtrack, the band -- in their animated form -- turn up at the end to perform the track with 'Black Ops'' two main characters.
There's lots of activity in the Avenged Sevenfold camp right now. The band released the new song 'Carry On' for 'Call of Duty: Black Ops II,' and the boys even make an appearance in the game, post-credits, as an animated A7X, playing the song. But most recently, word has come that the band is hard at work on a new album. In a new interview, frontman M. Shadows sheds a little light on the sonic focus of the band's new album and how their new drummer is fitting in during the recording process.
Avenged Sevenfold turn up as performing characters in the new 'Call of Duty: Black Ops II' video game, but there have been a few people suggesting that late drummer The Rev also makes a guest appearance as a grainy figure in the balcony. However, singer M. Shadows says that any likeness to their drummer was purely unintentional and was not something they signed off on.
This week, an Australian man proved his devotion to the gaming world by setting a new world record, playing Call of Duty: Black Ops II for more than 135 straight hours.
After revealing recently that Avenged Sevenfold were about six songs into a writing their upcoming album. M. Shadows has now given a big hint as to what direction the band will be taking on the disc. He also has laid out a timetable for the album's release.
There may have been questions at one point as to whether or not Avenged Sevenfold would continue after supporting the 'Nightmare' disc as a tribute to late drummer Jimmy "The Rev" Sullivan, but the band is definitely progressing toward a new album.
