The good news continues to pile up for NBC's 'Parenthood,' which (like the previous years) faced an uncertain prospect of renewal. Not only has the acclaimed drama been renewed for a full fifth season , but 'Parenthood' season 5 will also bring back Ray Romano, one its most popular guest stars, for another lengthy arc despite his apparent exit at the end of the previous season finale.

Deadline first reported the news, specifying that Romano would recur as Sarah’s (Lauren Graham) boss/lover Hank Rizzoli for as many as 12-15 episodes, similar to his 14 last season. The casting could be seen as somewhat pragmatic as well, considering the character had poised to exit the series by moving to Minnesota to be near his daughter, while Jason Ritter's role as Sarah's other love interest Mark will be written out to accommodate Ritter's role on FOX's 'Us & Them.'

For his part, Romano opted to return to 'Parenthood' because of the working relationship he’d developed with the show's developer and executive producer Jason Katims. Romano first appeared on the series after TNT cancelled the acclaimed but low-rated 'Men of a Certain Age.'

'Parenthood' will move to the Thursday 10:00 P.M. slot on NBC this fall, but what say you? Are you excited for the show's renewal and the return of Ray Romano?
