Pearl Jam are making progress on their new album, and it will feature a contribution from Incubus guitarist Mike Einziger. How do we know his? Well, for one thing, the axeman tweeted a photo of himself, his lady love and the one and only Eddie Vedder, frontman for PJ, revealing that he is "recording strings" for the new platter. That's just about all the proof we need that stuff is happening.

While we don't know the extent of the progress, it's still some new news.

Interestingly enough, both bands were once signed to Epic and enjoyed loads of radio success during their tenures at the label. As is often the case at major labels, though, both have since moved on.

Einziger shared the photo and captioned it as follows:

In the studio with my girl and Eddie Vedder, recording strings for Pearl Jam's new album :)

So that's another piece of info about a new album from the Seattle grunge icons. It gives fans hope that the band is really putting in some effort and getting somewhere, even if it's just an update from an obviously very psyched guest who is making an appearance -- the scope of which remains unclear .
